Making the switch is pretty easy. Navigate to your profile on Instagram (for mobile), and under Account Settings, you’ll see an option called “Switch to Business Profile.”
You will then be asked to log in to Facebook within the app.
After that, you’ll be asked to select which Facebook page you want to connect to. You must be an admin of the page you’re wanting to connect, and can only connect one Instagram Business profile and Facebook page together.
Instagram will then ask which contact information you want to pull from your Facebook pages, such as customer service phone number, email address, or mailing address. A minimum of one contact is required to set up an Instagram Business profile.
Just like that, you’re set up on Instagram for Business. You can see the differences between the Business profile below.
Instagram Insights does not pull historical data, it starts collecting once an Instagram Business profile is set up.
The variations include a “Contact” button which accesses the contact info previously mentioned, the business type you have selected within Facebook, and at the top right next to your settings cogwheel is your access to Insights.
It’s important to note that Instagram Insights does not pull historical data. Rather, it starts collecting once an Instagram Business profile is set up:
If you ever want to switch back to a regular profile, you can do so in Account Settings.
Instagram Business New Features
Business profiles – The look and feel of the business profile sets it apart from regular user accounts, and pulls info like contact information in from the FB, but still allows shoppable Instagram links to stay.
Insights – The types of insights offered include impressions, reach, and clicks to the website on a weekly basis from an account standpoint, as well as impressions, reach, and engagement on a post-by-post basis (see below).
Promote – The same way you have the ability to “boost” posts on Facebook, you can now promote posts on Instagram as well, separate from running an Instagram ad.
Sell – The Shop tab, located on business accounts’ profiles, cultivates every post tagged with a brand’s shoppable products into one feed.
